WATER SKIING AND WAKEBOARDING
Water skiing was invented in the early 1920's. Beginners using two skis are pulled along at speeds of about 25-35 kilometers per hour. Once the basic skills are mastered the speeds increase to between 40 and 55 kilometers per hour and often on just one ski.
Wakeboarding developed as a combination of
water skiing, snow boarding and surfing techniques. The rider is also towed behind a boat but the speeds are slower. It is becoming a popular sport as the basic skills are fairly easy to learn.
